Age ratings


Each individual film has a different target audience they want to aim towards; depending on the age group it could mean more graphic or stronger language. The age rating is created as some images or use of language is inappropriate for certain ages. The main reason that age ratings was created is being not all ages need to see the images put in front of them; these images could contain violence, substance abuse, profanity ,impudence or issues containing sex. There are 8 different age rating and each rating allows different graphically images and use of language. The 8 different categories are;

- Uc – Suitable for young children
- U  - Suitable for all ages
- PG - Parental Guidance
- 12 - 12 years and overs only
-12A - 12 years and overs only

- 15 - 15 years and overs only
- 18 - 18 years and overs only
-R18 - Adult works for licensed premises only

 
These age ratings are given by the BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) in Britain.
