Group meeting on the 21 January 2013
The meeting that was taken on the 21 of January 2013 had all members of the group present (Lisa, Aimie, Sam and myself) in this group meeting we disgust how our story bored has changed due to Aimie re-drawing it, even though we was confused at the beginning the changes she has made has made an improvement on our work. The story board was complete so we started our shooting list this has now been completed and we worked together to make sure the locations, shots and characters we wanted were in the right shots. As a group we started talking about the outfits we may want to where considering the weather conditions and other props that we might need. The final thing we disgust was the script we all agreed that the script wouldn’t need to be that long due to the lack of context needed, the script was written.
We showed our storyboard, script and shooting list to Sir, he gave us some corrections to make, once these corrections were made the group was given the go ahead to be allowed to start filming our opening sequence.

Group meeting talk 18th January
Today in class we discussed who was the main actress out of Aimie Fisher and Lisa Crofts, we came to a conclusion that Aimie will play the alive sister who sees her dead sister which will be Lisa Crofts. The reason that we choice the two girls to play the part of the twins is due to their size, hair colour, height and skin tone. Sam will be the murder and will only be seen in the flash back scenes. I will be be an extra at the graveyard with other actors and actresses later to be known.

Where our Thriller Film might appear?
Our thriller film is going to be made by an independent company, this means that it may not be shown in known cinemas such as Odeon as the company isn’t well know; however the film will appear on such websites like YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and other such websites. These websites are websites that use as the directors and film makers can receive feedback and they audience’s interest so if we create another film we know what they would to see. The target audience we are appealing to would be the age rating of 15 and over; this is due to the distressing scenes and actions that may be used through the film.
The people who I would expect to watch this thriller movie is people who like mystery and murder and like to see the graphic content on the journey to find out why the murder happened and who done it.
Treatment
The opening of our film begins in a graveyard. A young girl has recently lost
her sister after a tragic incident, and so, has gone to visit her grave. The
cause of her death was drowning, but how she drowned, that was the mystery. The
police believed it was suicide, but she intuitively knew that someone had done
this to her sister, someone had murdered her, her sister had no reason to commit
sucide. (Flashback - her sister running away from a stranger shouting at her).
The only evidence she had of this was a strong feeling, she knew her sister
would not commit sucide, and she knew this. However, feeling slowing drove her
insane. While visiting the grave she thought she saw a figure run past her
and into the woods. She thought she saw her sister. So, she followed it. She
lost track of the figure she believed was her sister, until she saw a cabin in
the distance of which the figure walking into. She ran hastily towards this
cabin. (Flashback - Her sister stumbles on a bridge over a lake, the man grabs
her shouting at her and pushes her into the lake). Once in the cabin she looks
around, she looks to her side to see a mirror only to see her dead sisters
reflection behind her. She rapidly turns round to find no one there, just an
empty room. Shaken up, she runs home. She spends days, weeks, months, looking
for evidnece that her sisters death was a murder, so much so, that it makes her
deranged! Her mother becomes extremely worried, and so sends her away to get
help, but she was determine not give up, she would find her sisters killer.

R18 - Age Rating
R18 is a particular category that is only shown is specific cinemas;
these cinemas have to be licensed for the context of the film to even be shown.
These movies can only be brought in specific areas too such as sex shops and
your only allowed in those areas if you can show your aged 18 and over. This
rating is legally restricted from most of the public. The content in this film
to make it an R18 is the high amount of sex and the detail used to create such
scenes. The other age rating category’s there might be suggestions or a sneak
peak of a sexually content or scene but in R18 rated movies its completely
different there is a high frequency of sex being used in a visible nature and
spoken about deeply this is why this rating exists as it wouldn’t be
appropriate for anyone under the age of 18.
18 - Age Rating
The category 18 is also like the category 15 no one is
allowed to watch an 18 rated film unless they are 18; this also includes only
being allowed to buy/rent the movie. This age rating is due to the content in
the film. The people who watch the 18 or over rated films are normally people
who like horrors, like to see detail in violence and like the sexual content.
Throughout the film the use of bad language will be quiet high as it would be
common to say in a fight for example. The 18 years and overs rating is only
there to protect the children who are under that particular age from seeing any
content that may distress or upset them in anyway.
15 - Age Rating
The category for the age rating of 15 is suitable for anyone
who is 15 years and over. This is the first age rating where a child can’t be accompanied
by an adult to watch it if they are under 15, you have to be 15 or over to be
allowed to watch that film. The rating of 15 usually consists sexually scenes; violence;
bad language; discrimination, gory detail on murders, deaths etc. all these can
be psychological this could make anyone uncomfortable and makes it extremely
unsuitable for anyone under the age of 15 as it could lead to nightmares.
12 and 12a - Age Rating
12 and 12A fall under the same category the only difference
is if a scene is able to disturb or upset a children under the age of 12 this
could mean a violent scene or bad language being used this is when it’s advised
for an adult to be present. The category 12 is mainly there so children are
able to rent/buy a movie if they are 12 or over, if a child is under the age of
12 they will not be able to rent/buy a film that is rated a 12 without a parent
present to buy it for them.
12A only exists at the cinema; you never see a 12A on a
movie case now do you? This category was invented just for the cinema so
children who are under the age of 12 are allowed to watch the movie but must be
companied by an adult, however the movie may not be recommended to people under
12 it it’s the parent’s choice of taking you to watch that particular film this
is due the content of violence and detailed put across the weapons etc. or anti-social
behaviour for example if someone is getting bullied for race, age (discrimination).
At the age of 12 the children watching are likely to pick up the use of language
or pick up what happens in the film and think its ok for example self-harming
this may be cut of the film and used in another film that is higher rated 15
for example, this means two versions of the film are being realised. This only
becomes a problem when the film comes out on DVD as the scenes that were cut
out in the cinema won’t be on the DVD.
Parental Guidance - Age Rating
PG stands for Parental Guidance. Anyone can go and watch a
PG film, when a child is 8 or over they are allowed to go and watch a film
alone it’s when the child is younger than 8 it is advised a parent/guardian goes
with them as the content on the film may upset them. The content does not
change that much from a ‘U’ however there is allowed to be more violence but cannot
go into any detail; any sexual natural (if there is any it can only be in a
joking matter). If the film contains any sort of horror it is short lived as it
may affect the children who are under the age of 8. Drugs are not allowed as
they set of the wrong message; drugs are only allowed to be used if there is a
strong anti-drug message or the drug they are taking is harmless for example vitamin
C. Discrimination is not allowed at all this covers religion, colour, gender, sexuality
or disability, it is only allowed if it is teaching the children the message
between right and wrong or something historic is on the screen.
Suitable for Children - Age Rating
The first age rating is a 'U' this rating means suitable for
all ages. This shows that there would not be any unsuitable images or the use
of strong language in the film. There might be words that are used for example ‘bloody’
but put in a different context so it wouldn’t be picked up by the children in
any way. The hardest thing about making ‘U’ rated films is that each individual
child gets upset at different things, so it is hard to say what could upset a
group of children. ‘U’ is created so children aged 4 and over can enjoy the
cinema as much as another. In come ‘U’ rated films there is come violence, threats
or a bit of horror but it is usually over in a couple of minutes and the film reassures them that everything is okay. The
aim for all ‘U’ rated films is to teach children the difference between right
and wrong.
Age ratings
Each individual film has a different target audience they
want to aim towards; depending on the age group it could mean more graphic or
stronger language. The age rating is created as some images or use of language
is inappropriate for certain ages. The main reason that age ratings was created
is being not all ages need to see the images put in front of them; these images
could contain violence, substance abuse, profanity ,impudence or issues
containing sex. There are 8 different age rating and each rating allows
different graphically images and use of language. The 8 different categories
are;
- Uc – Suitable for young children
- U - Suitable for
all ages
- PG - Parental Guidance
- 12 - 12 years and overs only
-12A - 12 years and overs only
- 15 - 15 years and overs only
- 18 - 18 years and overs only
-R18 - Adult works for licensed premises onlySaturday, 5 January 2013
Mise-en-scene
Mise-en-scene is basically everything that creates the film, it ranges from the location to positioning of characters. Mise-en-scene falls into every category when creating a film. Here is a list of what it can fall under. - location - Interior -Exterior -Costume -Make-up - colour (use of lighting) etc. Without mise-en-scene there would not be any particular mood an the scene would not be set.
Will Gluck
Will Gluck was born in New York and has become one of America's best comedy directors; however Will is also a screenwriter and a producer. Wills first comedy film that he directed was made in 1985 which was called 'The Dagger of Kamui' although this film was successful Will was not known as a serious director until 2006 when 'Loop' came out. The most famous film that Will Gluck has directed which is also the most recent is 'Friends with Benefits' which was create in 2011.
What's a Production Company?
A production company is the company that has the rights and the funds to create and show a film. This company is usually in charge of finding a decent script or getting writes to create one with a basic idea of a film. This company is also in charge of finding the actors; locations and every single aspect of creating and marketing the film.
Opening sequence
The final opening sequence that I watched today was from The Inbetweeners Series 1 Episode 2. I decided to watch an opening to a series to see if the title times was different to a movie opening/ending sequence. I found out that like the other films the titles were mainly at the end of the episode and a small number at the beginning.
Opening Sequence
Today I also looked at the opening sequence to Friends with Benefits. This film has more titles at the beginning of the the sequence than Harry Potter but also has most of its title at the end of the film.
Opening Sequences
Today I have watched the opening sequence to Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, in this opening sequence I had taken note on how long each title takes and the importance of that title is depending on the length of it being on show, also how this creates the mood to the opening sequence. I found in this particular movie most of the titles were at the end of the film but still had a particular importance to this movie.
